PRISM - OBSERVATION TOWER

M.ARCH . STUDENT CHARETTE . FALL 2018 . SUPERVISOR: ERIC HAAS . LOS ANGELES, USA

Triangulated façades flanking their central weight-bearing framework are the first elements to be noticed. They enhance the bulky volume of the structure, while their subtle inclines produce the illusion of flat surfaces. A central stairwell, trapped inside, shredded with the beam of lights coming from above, offers meditative opportunities for participators; however, this contemplative space is not entirely enclosed.

On the way to the top, terraces are the intermission of the whole experience inside the tower. This configuration liberates them from the confinement of walls. Moreover, the contiguous shear along the terraces achieves the visual communication of both below and above so that the openings of views do not become the discouragement of completing the circulation.
