HOLLYWOOD PENTA PARK
M.ARCH . SOM COMPETITION . FALL 2019 . SUPERVISOR: SELWYN TING . LOS ANGELES, USA
Located in Hollywood, the project is designed to enhance the connection between the five portions of the park. At every point, a structure houses a gallery and an observation deck. Each serving as a gathering point that elevates the park, creating a visual connection to the city. All forms were inspired by the five platonic shapes and five elements within nature: universe, water, earth, air and fire. The galleries create an intermediate area between the landscape and the urban fabric, becoming focal points in large spaces that are not programmed. Each and all connected via a bike lift, that integrates technology by generating energy. The continuous sequence of visual markers reflects the scale and scope of the existing project. All structures occupy and provide an identity for their block. At night, light defines an illuminated activity zone. When viewed all together, they create a visual datum between city and nature.
